There are many positions available for Civilian Crew.

From the average Joe & his family, to the barber, deck sweeper, window cleaner and even a sanitary attendant.
If you have the flair and imagination to be the person who has no command structure to follow and can see to the remedial and mundane applications a small city has to offer, then take a civilian position.
There will be no need to take the Cadet academy, as you will only be responsible for the normal operations and can write fairly freely what ever your feeling.

Your only constraint is the stations timestamp which must be adhered to, but within that frame, you are free to do pretty much whatever you wish.

Who said a position as a civilian was boring!!!!
