yInchu'

Character Information:

Species: Klingon

Gender: Male

Occupation: Owner & Chef, "Qe'" Klingon restaurant, Main Promenade

yInchu' was born the son of a lesser known but respected warrior, and a famous opera singer. yInchu' never knew his father as he was killed in battle before he was born; in fact, his mother only became aware of her pregnancy after her mate had perished. Overjoyed to have her mate in a sense returned to her, she named the boy yInchu' - "new life". Accompanying his mother on her constant tours with various opera troupes, yInchu' was regularly exposed to the finer aspects of Klingon culture. While trained as any other Klingon boy would be, he expressed less of an interest in combat and more of an interest in the arts. His mother was pleased to discover he had a fine singing voice; however, yInchu' decided that food was his calling. He demanded his way into the kitchens of the finest Klingon restaurants and trained with a number of well-respected chefs. Desiring to expose the larger world to the joys of Klingon cuisine, yInchu' made repeated attempts to acquire his own restaurant at various starbases and stations around the quadrant, but found that wherever humans dominated, there was a strong resistance to the idea of an all-Klingon establishment, largely due to its nature of demanding food as fresh as possible--often still moving--and it was thought that many would be bothered by the idea of various animals being openly slaughtered on a regular basis. yInchu' did not give up despite this challenge, and finally got his chance on Deep Space Five, though he had to make an agreement in which the slaughtering of animals was done behind closed doors so that non-diners would not have to be exposed to the spectacle. However, yInchu' plans to invite his diners behind the scenes whenever they wish to witness their meals being created from the very start. yInchu' has acquired a sizeable establishment on the main Promenade, though only a tiny portion of it encompasses his actual kitchen and dining area--most of the space is behind closed doors, housing great varieties of animals waiting to find their way to a diner's stomach. He hopes to achieve success in filling a small but loyal niche market aboard the enormous station.

yInchu' might be considered soft-spoken as Klingons go. He is rarely loud or boisterous except in social situations in which a Klingon is expected to be so. He treats others with a firm hand, though never cruel. Like any Klingon he has a strong will and uses force whenever he deems it necessary, but only seldom finds adequate reason to employ violence. As well as fine food, yInchu' appreciates many fine arts, particularly opera, and enjoys listening to recordings of his mother's great past roles; he also loves to sing along, though only in private.
