Brief Character Background:

Varis Hale is a joined Trill, third host of the Hale symbiote. She is a dedicated officer and passionate about discovering the secrets of the universe. While she adheres strictly to Starfleet protocols and sticks to the rules, she has brief moments of flexibility. She is a natural leader when the situation calls for it, but outside of her duties she is relatively quiet and enjoys her own company.

Before being joined, Varis trained at Starfleet Academy and discovered her passion for the sciences. While she has specialised her interest in ecology and the study of planetary eco-systems, she is also a highly capable scientist in many areas. She has studied at the Trill Ministary of Science and has served on three starships as science officer. She has also conducted several research projects for the Starfleet Science Division on the impact of mining operations on local eco-systems

 


As the third host of the Hale symbiote, Varis has has inherited the memories and experience of previous hosts. The first host was Levias, a philosopher and established theorist in the social sciences on Trill. He was a pacafist, interested in studying and preserving cultures and the interaction of social groups from different worlds. The second host was Vashti, a senior member of the Trill Ministary of Security. The Hale symbiote nearly perished with Vashti during the Dominion War, but was joined with Varis in time. Varis inherited Vashti's immense passion and dominance. Combined with Levias' calm pacifism, the previous hosts of the Hale symbiote give Varis a balanced set of experiences that she draws upon exude confidence and strength where necessary, but a keen respect for everyone around her at all times.
