Axel is a rugged looking man, slender build, and well muscled.  He often fails to wear his uniform, at least correctly.  Of duty he is often found on the holodecks, sitting on a beach, wearing nothing but shorts.

Education and Career: Prior Academy Experience - Worked as a moisture plant engineer in Nevada while a teen. Studied at North Western University of Colorado with a major in Neo-philidon friction systems.

Academy Experience - Joined at the age of twenty and rose quickly among students with knowledge on several earth-base prime motion systems.  He singled his field of study to quantum slips and wormholes for some time, but once again pursued an engineering degree upon leaving the Academy.

Biography:
Axel was raised among science, mostly field work that included his mother digging up some forgotten thing or another.  He also fell in love with the job, but he had another calling.  His father was usually the sole maintenance technician at his mother\'s dig sites and he loved helping out.  With encouragement from his mother he joined college in Colorado and excelled at engineering. 
He attended Starfleet Academy with his parents displeasure, but he loved getting his hands dirty in the matter/anti-matter cells.  He chased a slight love of an ancient race called the Cadd, searching the Taladri wormhole, but he drifted back to his studies at engineering to complete his Academy tenure. 
He was stationed on a Federation colony near Romulan space and met his estranged wife Sue. A raid had occurred shortly after the two of them were married and had produced a son and the result of the raid was his son\'s abduction.  Axel rarely talks about this event.  Sue and he had grown apart over the next few months and finally divorced, going their separate ways. 
That brought him to his next station, a small Federation shuttle service near the planet of Degr 3 where he served as EO.  He had a fine time there and became very close friends with a man named Balthom Grerg, a Klingon who favored drinking over sword fighting.
He later put in for an opening on a Deep Space Station, and crossed his fingers.

Additional Information: For a time, while a kid, his father taught him how to fight.  His father was a studier of savate, and Axel became quite good at the fighting style.  He has been known to resort to the dance-like style when challenged.
